I have a growing collection of 90s Gap mens denim buttons downs. There is a particular style that i can’t get enough of and snatch them up every time I see them. I prefer them over cardigans in the spring/fall.
I have a pair of vintage Gap jeans that are lower rise than I normally wear and similar to 501s. They are my favorite jeans in my closet.
It’s also fun to look at their older tags and know when things were made. I found a really cute flared cropped pair of pants from the early 00s from their holiday line and was bummed they didn’t fit me.
totally on the same wavelength! i looked at the collection when it dropped online and thought that it looked like everything else you could always buy at the gap? not a bad thing and maybe the point is to show everyone fawning over doen that the tag inside is driving the price point and it’s really not that unique? if so, brilliant for the gap if it works.
yes! the jean jacket was actually pretty good? it runs large compared to most everything else that runs TTS. the rest of the clothes just felt like the gap? which is great but not worth the FOMO. the alternatives you listed here as just as worthy!
I detest buying clothes online, but that vest as a top is screaming at me. Do you risk it every time you buy something on eBay or do you rely on measurements and hope it works? I’m often disappointed when I get my order, but I’ve also been hunting for very similar overalls for weeeeeks locally and no luck!
Good question - I buy almost everything online so I would say that I have about a 75% success rate. I tend to wear oversized clothing and I am tallish (5'8) and don't mind a raw hem if I need to crop a pant. The thing I always check for is waist measurements if they have them. I SHOULD know my shoulder/ bust measurements but I don't think I do - you can use your bra size (if you wear one)!
I also have a resell pipeline w a friend who consigns, so thats helpful. With overalls I think they can be pretty forgiving, but of course, it's always a gamble!
ok i love the vintage gap curation here! the workwear esp. very YOU! agreed that when i scrolled the collab it was underwhelming lol. thanks for the shoutout too!
yes! Your tops are so much better than this. I admit I was kind of excited when I saw the ads, but really the only thing I love is the jacket + wide pant pairing, and we can all recreate that on our own I think.
I’m loving all of these choices, and think vintage Gap is better than new Gap. I second the recommendations and love for the denim jacket and linen shorts!
All of this!! I also love the Gap and these are such good finds. How have I never seen that Juliette Lewis / Daft Punk commercial!? Also +++++ on this post title.
*deletes draft of exact same topic* lol
THAT LINEN CHORE COAT - so good. These are all magnificent finds.
lol I figured it wasn’t novel but please post yours tooooo!
The big buttons on that beige vest… chefs kiss.

Love this whole round up! Thanks!😊
ohh I've never tried over a cardigan, that would look so smart. Thank you!

Looking at the tags is something I always try to do if they have pics. Sometimes I can’t totally tell but I do try. Your jeans sound incredible!
Beautiful round-up!!!
Great round up, I love the button down denim shirts
Absolutely! I have more than enough denim button downs but whenever I see one I always think I need more!
Did Substack recommend this post because I too love vintage Gap, or because we have the same first name???

Whoa!! So weird! I never meet other Kellyn’s! 👋

Yes! I’m not totally sure what the point was either - in the end I think the balloon sleeve denim jacket might be the only collectable
i could totally see that but it wasn’t even that special and the sizing seems somewhat ridiculous.
💯
so good! love it. just got out of the gap store where i peeked at some pieces...it was JUST FINE!
but walked out empty handed for sure
oh interesting! any stand outs?

Awe thanks! Yeah I felt like the jacket seemed like the true star.
*chefs kiss* this was perfect
awe thanks kelly!
yes! I also wish they had it in mini sizes for my daughter lol.
😭
wait that vest with red detail is everything!
Wouldn't it be so fun to wear to the river or the beach over a bathing suite?? You could keep all your things in the pockets lol
This is good stuff, BF! vintage >
Thank you, Rojeen!
