The big buttons on that beige vest… chefs kiss.

I have a growing collection of 90s Gap mens denim buttons downs. There is a particular style that i can’t get enough of and snatch them up every time I see them. I prefer them over cardigans in the spring/fall.

Love this whole round up! Thanks!😊

ohh I've never tried over a cardigan, that would look so smart. Thank you!

I have a pair of vintage Gap jeans that are lower rise than I normally wear and similar to 501s. They are my favorite jeans in my closet.

It’s also fun to look at their older tags and know when things were made. I found a really cute flared cropped pair of pants from the early 00s from their holiday line and was bummed they didn’t fit me.

Looking at the tags is something I always try to do if they have pics. Sometimes I can’t totally tell but I do try. Your jeans sound incredible!

Did Substack recommend this post because I too love vintage Gap, or because we have the same first name???

totally on the same wavelength! i looked at the collection when it dropped online and thought that it looked like everything else you could always buy at the gap? not a bad thing and maybe the point is to show everyone fawning over doen that the tag inside is driving the price point and it’s really not that unique? if so, brilliant for the gap if it works.

Yes! I’m not totally sure what the point was either - in the end I think the balloon sleeve denim jacket might be the only collectable

i could totally see that but it wasn’t even that special and the sizing seems somewhat ridiculous.

yes! the jean jacket was actually pretty good? it runs large compared to most everything else that runs TTS. the rest of the clothes just felt like the gap? which is great but not worth the FOMO. the alternatives you listed here as just as worthy!

I detest buying clothes online, but that vest as a top is screaming at me. Do you risk it every time you buy something on eBay or do you rely on measurements and hope it works? I’m often disappointed when I get my order, but I’ve also been hunting for very similar overalls for weeeeeks locally and no luck!

Good question - I buy almost everything online so I would say that I have about a 75% success rate. I tend to wear oversized clothing and I am tallish (5'8) and don't mind a raw hem if I need to crop a pant. The thing I always check for is waist measurements if they have them. I SHOULD know my shoulder/ bust measurements but I don't think I do - you can use your bra size (if you wear one)!

I also have a resell pipeline w a friend who consigns, so thats helpful. With overalls I think they can be pretty forgiving, but of course, it's always a gamble!

yes! Your tops are so much better than this. I admit I was kind of excited when I saw the ads, but really the only thing I love is the jacket + wide pant pairing, and we can all recreate that on our own I think.

I’m loving all of these choices, and think vintage Gap is better than new Gap. I second the recommendations and love for the denim jacket and linen shorts!
